Based in the former mining town of Mont-Saint-Martin, to the north of Longwy, France, Steven Da Costa is tirelessly preparing to face the best athletes in the world, amidst an unprecedented health crisis. The double European champion and reigning World champion in karate will do everything in his power to be the first to win gold at the Tokyo Olympic Games, in what was the first, and possibly the last, time that Karate is seen at the Olympic games.
Along with his twin brother Jessie, and older brother Logan, they form the backbone of the French Karate team. Under the benevolent eye of their mother and the instructions of their father and coach, they train daily, in the modest village hall transformed into a dojo.
Having already qualified to compete in the Olympic Games, the tournament in Lisbon and then the European Championships in Croatia will be the opportunity to test his form against his toughest opponents yet. Will Logan, who must shine at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, manage to get his ticket to join his brother in Japan? As for Jessie, who has just recovered from injury, will he be able to accompany his twin to Tokyo?
Thanks to his perseverance, Steven’s story transcends his sport. As an ambassador for the town of Mont-Saint-Martin and the whole country, how will he cope with the pressure put on his shoulders? Far from his family, will he be able to achieve his dreams? Will he forever mark the course of history?
