Two glaciologists and a nature photographer take on an important mission to document the last hidden glaciers of Patagonia. Traveling on horseback and sleeping in mountain shelters, this team of explorers trek on the path once shared by the pioneers who first discovered this remote region hundreds of years ago.
Lucas Ruiz and Pierre Pitte, two Argentinian glaciologists, share their recent scientific findings on Argentina’s glaciers and their increasingly rapid retreat caused by global warming. They go on to demonstrate how new innovative experiments have allowed them to become more adept at monitoring glaciers and discover how the weather affects them over time. Accompanying them is French expat photographer Nicolas Savine, whose aim is to document Patagonia’s incredible nature through the lens of his camera and help raise awareness on the need to protect it.
Their five-day horseback expedition takes us to another world – far from civilization – to appreciate the limitless wonders of Patagonia.
